Alex is a mother of two, speaks fluent Spanish and currently works as a Bilingual Speech Language Pathologist in a neighboring school district. She has worked as a Licensed Bilingual Speech Language Pathologist since 2005 and works with students from preschool through high school who have special needs.

The many years of focusing on teaching overall communication to all students, including those who are unable to speak, has taught Alex the value and importance of patience, commitment, dedication and holding high standard expectations regardless of an individual’s age, ability level or personal challenges.

Sensei Alex started her martial arts training in Tae Kwon Do in 1990 and achieved her black belt in 1995. In addition to Tae Kwon Do, she has studied other martial arts that include: Judo, Hapkido, some weapons training in Kali sticks and a weapon of her choice, which was the staff. As she progressed in rank, Alex assisted her instructors by teaching in her martial arts classes and worked with students from the ages of 7 through adult until she left for college.

Alex has taught and worked with children since the age of 15 when she taught group and individual private swim lessons at the local pool to those ranging in ages from 3 through 13 years of age.

Alex and her family joined South Elgin Budokan in February of 2018, when her son started attending the Youth Bujutsu program. In July of that year Alex started with South Elgin Budokan / PSN Fitness for personal training and continues to do so to the present. Alex is currently working towards her 1st Dan Bujutsu Black Belt. Her family participates in various martial arts programs at the Budokan currently or in the recent past. We are glad Alex is teaching with us since she is a wonderful addition to the Budokan family.
